He's Crying

He's crying before the kill floor. People think that these animals don't know what is happening to them. See it in her eyes, know that they do.

Petting a Cow at The Slaughterhouse

I can still feel the touch of her fur.

Something inside of me urger my hand to reach into the truck. It felt as though I was comforting the poor cow. "Your suffering will end soon."

Cows Panic in Rainy Weather

Transport terror.

One of the most gut-wrenching, desperate and hopeless scenes.

Cows slip and slide, struggling to even stand in the back of a metal plated slaughter-truck. The smallest change in weather of even momentary rain may make these animals trip to the slaughterhouse that much more unbearable.

The Barrier Between Us

Standing with this cow for almost 20 minutes- we made a profound connection. As the truck started to roll towards the slaughterhouse, panic and fear overcame the cow I had tried so desperately to comfort. As I watched her react, my focus narrowed in on the metal grate deterring me from offering any relief or freedom. I wish I could set them free. I wish I could tear down the walls of each truck to liberate the animals trapped inside.

Animals Beg For You To Save Their Life

Staring right at you; wondering what you will do to help; Wondering where they are. What is about to happen.

The look in this cows eye struck my heart. I felt her pleading for my help to break her free from the misery that await.

Cow Tries To Escape Slaughter

"! saw you try"

This poor cow gave it all trying to kick down the wall of the slaughter-truck. Admitting defeat, he scurries to the corner of the slaughter-truck with the more horrified look of vanquish on her face.

Exploding Udders

A reality the Dairy industry doesn't want you to see

A mother suffering engorged udder pain and discomfort: Can you feel good knowing this is who dairy products come from? Conversations with the farmer transporting these cows to slaughter reminded me of this powerful quote: "Whenever people say 'We mustn't be sentimental' you can take it they are about to do something cruel.

Cow Unable to Eat Frozen Food

Denied proper winter care, this cow struggles to eat his frozen lunch. Normally, food would be mixed with hot water to create an enjoyable experience for the animal. Not in this case of farming.

Udders so Distended They Can't Walk Properly

Due to extensive genetic manipulation, today’s dairy cows produce up to 12 times more milk than they would naturally produce to feed a calf.

Cows don't live long on dairy farms. Cows producing bucket loads of milk have udders so distended they can't walk properly.

Her back is so bony it's startling: bones protruding virtually on all sides while the skeletal look contrasts sharply with the bizarrely huge, veiny udders.

Sending Love

"We care about you. We are fighting for you."
This morning I made sure the cows felt your love as well as my own.

The day I met evma

I will never forget the day I met Evma. The name of her ear tag caught my attention immediately. I began whispering her name in hopes that it may offer her some comfort or relief. There was nothing I could do but apologize for how she had been betrayed; The day I met Evma, they killed her.

Beautiful beings brutally battered into beef

They are beautiful beings- they are not beef. They want to live just like you and I. She peered out at me longingly as if to say "Are you here to save me?". I wish I was. I wish there was something more that I could have done for her.

Sniffs my Fingertips

A gentle nose sniffs my fingertips. Offering love and sympathy instead of the harsh human hand she has only ever known.

I am always surprised by how forgiving these animals are. Especially the mothers who have endured unimaginable pain. A life of suffering ending too soon; without repent.

Battered, Bruised and Beaten

A mother uncared for.

This is how she spent her last day alive- Battered, bruised and bleeding.

Considered of no more profit to humans except to be consumed and forgotten; Bound for slaughter.

"Can I See The Pictures?"

I happen upon a respectful conversation with an interested truck driver. "Can I see the photos" he eagerly asks.

I was pleasantly surprised when he confirmed the name of Sympathy at Slaughter and where he can find more information.

Dairy Cow Suffers Tumour Growth

A defective dairy cow arriving at the slaughterhouse with an unidentifiable lesion on her face.

What do you think has happened to her? It appears to be a tumor growth scabbed and scraped open.
She should have received medical care. Instead she was considered no longer profitable and sent to slaughter among a truck full of dairy mothers.

Defect Dairy

Another day, another defect dairy cow driven to death.

It was only 6 days ago I witnessed this exact same heart wrenching situation; a dairy mother with udders infected, engorged and of no further profit to the farmer sent to slaughter. Sadly, this is a reality common to all forms of dairy farming.
